Le Clos des Hirondelles in Limousin, Gîte for 10 people in St Victurnien

In the heart of the Dark Valley of the Vienne, on the Richard the Lionheart and Vélidéale road in Limousin , the Clos des Hirondelles is a family gîte in a converted barn with a large capacity (10 people) in a small, calm and relaxing hamlet.
Limousin and its surroundings ( near Saint-Victurnien, Saint-Junien, Oradour sur Glane, the Périgord Limousin park) should delight families with their good living in the countryside.

We are the owners of this barn, which is hundreds of years old. We have rehabilitated it ourselves and we know every stone of it! David's family has lived in this place called "Le Puy de la Rue" for several generations. This heritage continues with the youngest. Our history is linked to this land, difficult to work but marked by peasant values forged over the centuries. Continuing to develop it is our fight to perpetuate life in our village. We therefore hope that you will feel this energy during your stay associated with the good life in the countryside.

A family heirloom, this barn and its adjoining cellar (the entrance and the bathroom-laundry room!) have had several functions which have evolved over the years.

Why the Clos des Hirondelles? Because when this barn was still used for storing grain, swallows came to nest on the beams that you can see in the living room. For the record, an underground passage passes under the barn and the village. Country legend says that it comes out on the slope that goes down towards the Vienne, that it was used during the Second World War… . More prosaically, it must have served as a place to store food, protected from looting over the centuries!

During the summer period (July-August), the cottage is rented by the week (from Saturday to Saturday)!
